Atomic Heart is a first-person action-adventure game developed by Mundfish and being released by 505 Games later this year. The game’s ambitious visuals and compelling story have drawn a huge amount of attention, with many fans asking if the game was funded by the Russian Government.
Atomic Heart is developed by Mundfish, a Russian video game development studio. The studio is headed by game designer Albert Bannikov and employs over 60 developers, 3D modelers and animators. It also has art directors with over a decade of experience, who have worked on games such as Far Cry 4, Assassins Creed and Styx: Master of Shadows.
The studio was founded in 2016, and has gone on to create several popular games, including Sine Mora EX and Vulkan Adventures. As a studio, it is not well known outside of Russia, however, its games have earned it critical reviews and an increasing fanbase.
Atomic Heart is one of Mundfish’s most ambitious projects and requires significant resources to be developed. It is unknown where Mundfish sourced the funding for the game’s development, however, some have speculated that the Russian Government could have provided some of the funds.
The evidence that supports this claim is mostly circumstantial, however, some have pointed to the fact that the game is set in a highly detailed futuristic version of the Soviet Union, and that the game’s developers have close ties to the government.
At this time, it is unclear whether or not the Russian Government has provided any funding for the development of Atomic Heart. However, there is evidence to suggest that the government has been involved in some capacity. Ultimately, only time will tell if the game really was funded by the Russian Government.
Atomic Heart does not have any direct political ties. The game is set in an alternative universe version of the Soviet Union and does touch on themes such as totalitarianism, but these themes are not expressed in a particularly partisan way.
