Sons of the Forest Water Collector is a grassroots cooperative of rural farmers in central India who are on a mission to provide communities with access to clean, safe drinking water.

Background and Vision

Established in 2018, the organization was set up to combat water scarcity and to improve the health of local communities by providing access to clean, safe drinking water to rural villages. Their vision is to empower these communities with the ability to be self-sufficient, able to save time and to reclaim their own water rights in the process.

the Cooperative

The cooperative is comprised of approximately 40 rural farmers across the 9 districts of Central India. Each one of these farmers is tasked with collecting water from a designated source, such as a local lake, river or pond, and delivering it to a community on cleared paths, often traversing difficult and hazardous terrain.

The Cooperative also provides water to communities that were previously unable to access clean, safe drinking water, as well as to those suffering from water-borne diseases, as a result of contaminated water.
