Hearts is a trick taking card game for four players with a standard 52-card deck. Each player is dealt thirteen cards. The player to the left of the dealer begins by playing any card, except a heart. Subsequent players must follow suit if they can, or otherwise must play a heart if they have one. The trick is won by the highest card of the lead suit, or the highest heart if hearts have been played. The player who wins a trick then leads for the next trick.
At the end of the each hand, players add up the value of their tricks, with hearts worth one point and the Queen of Spades worth 13 points. The player with the lowest score after all 13 hands wins.
