Atomic Heart is the upcoming science fiction first-person shooter video game, developed by Mundfish and published by 505 Games. The game was first announced in 2018 and is expected to launch sometime in 2021 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X/S.
There has been much speculation since the game was announced whether or not it will feature co-op gameplay. Here’s a look at what we know so far.
Atomic Heart has been described as an open-world shooter with PvE elements, meaning it likely won’t feature classical competitive multiplayer. However, the game’s developers have not dismissed the idea of a co-op mode.
The official trailer of Atomic Heart features at least two characters, protagonist P-3 and a robot who appears to be helping him as he traverses a mysterious Soviet-style facility. This seems to suggest that there may be an element of cooperative play.
It remains to be seen if the cooperative elements of the game will be limited to the single player campaign, or if there will be a dedicated co-op mode. We also don’t know how many players can participate in a session and what roles the players will be able to take.
At this point, it is still too early to tell whether or not Atomic Heart will feature a proper co-op mode. We will have to wait until the official release of the game to find out more. In the meantime, here are some features of Atomic Heart we do know:
It’s certainly an exciting game and any co-op mode would be a welcome addition. We will have to wait and see if Atomic Heart has any cooperative elements on release.
